What if we could all go to the woods and learn to live deliberately? And do so virtually before we make any physical changes in our lives. We have been following the fortunes of this game here at the Still Web for years now. After much searching we found the 2015 trailer for the game, not yet released. It is worth reading the artist’s statement. Tracy Fullerton is passionate about the possibility of using gaming technology to help us make wise choices  in life. “The central question behind the project is: can we make a game that translates Thoreau’s experiment in living into  a playable experience? As he writes, Thoreau went to the woods to reduce life to its lowest terms and see if it is ‘mean’ or ‘sublime’ and ‘if it proved to be mean, to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it.’ Our game system presents a tension for the player between these possibilities, which they must attempt to balance as best they can over the course of an in-game year.” You can hear Tracy talking about the game in 2012 a longer video but with much detail about the strategy Thoreau used to learn to live deliberately.
