Our friends at Open Culture featured this lovely short clip about solitude, and how young people need to find ways to maintain or relearn the ability to be alone for well being. Who is Andrei Tarkovsky?

“The most famous Soviet film-maker since Sergei M. Eisenstein, Andrei Tarkovsky (the son of noted poet Arseniy Tarkovsky) studied music and Arabic in Moscow before enrolling in the Soviet film school V.G.I.K. He shot to international attention with his first feature, Ivan’s Childhood (1962), which won the top prize at the Venice Film Festival.” Read full biography

That doesn’t mean he should be lonely, but that he shouldn’t grow bored with himself because people who grow bored in their own company seem to me in danger…”
