“The long, slow performance of a piece by the American composer John Cage is scheduled to run until 2640. On Saturday, an audience in Germany heard a sound change — the first since 2013.”

Today, read the article and marvel at how it can affect our perception of time. From the article: “…the idea that the performance would make it to 2640 was radically optimistic: That will require handovers between generations, and it will take effort and money. And that seems even more unlikely now, as the pandemic makes us realize life’s fragility, and the threat of climate change puts human survival in question.” Whilst the article offers sobering reflection on the impermanence of life, it also offers joy at the ingenuity of the human spirit to express ideas.
