Oryoki, often translated as “just the right amount,” is a highly choreographed ritual of serving and eating food—a ceremonial dance of giving, receiving, and appreciation. It takes years to learn and it is a beautiful ceremony.

Today we start with mindfully eating a raisin as an exercise in noting sticking points and patterns of mind. We suggest you print the activity so that it can be accessible on the table. Set aside time (at least 15minute) just before a meal to do this exercise today. You will need 1 raisin and willingness to observe impatience, your inner critic and just follow the steps slowly.
