If we pay attention, life teaches that impermanence is unavoidable. Most of the time we act in the world as if we were going to live forever even when we know we won’t. Today we attend to impermanence in our day. Beginnings and endings. Tiny things count: I may enjoy my coffee, but I get to the end of the cup. I like a lie in, but it is now time to get up. Each movement I make in my day has a beginning and and end, can I be aware of just that for a few minutes today. If you find this practice beneficial, you might decide to start a Notebook of Impermanence where you record many examples to review when you need perspective.
