“The method of carefully and deliberately dismantling technologies, epistemological Luddism if you will, is one way of recovering the buried substance upon which our civilization rests. Once unearthed, that substance could again be scrutinized, criticized, and judged.” (Winner)
Is epistemological Luddism a way into stillness in our fast paced lives? Take time to close read Luddism for these ludicrous times and reflect on your own intentional choices vis-a-vis technology. Close reading? We learnt how to do this with poetry a while back and also about slow reading. Today’s practice is longer than 15 minutes, but we think the post is well worth reading even though it is ‘old’ – from 2013!
