A quiet mind comes from our willingness to cultivate ‘walking beside’ the frustrations we experience when we do not get what we want. Buddhist monks and nuns often talk about become independent of external conditions. We train the mind to learn this independence and maintain a calm mind. This training takes a while…as we learn each time we run out of coffee (or our favourite thing) in our day.
